Recording in Puerto Rico: Choirs & Orchestra

Puerto Rico has the most accomplished Symphonic Orchestra in the Caribbean.  Funded in 1958 by the virtuoso Maestro Pablo Casals, the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra features internationally renowned musicians.  Others like Orquesta Filarmónica de Bayamón and Orquesta Filarmonica de Puerto Rico have also found success and critical acclaim.  Jazz and Salsa orchestras could be found in any corner with versatile musicians that could play any fusion of rhythms.  The Puerto Rican musicians are formally trained in local and international accredited schools and Universities, like The Puerto Rico Music Conservatory and The University of Puerto Rico. Others continue studies in Europe and The United States, like The Berklee College of Music, Julliard and The University of Miami.

Choirs in Puerto Rico are well established, full of trained singers and usually performing year round internationally, like the Award-winning Coro de Niños de San Juan ( Children’s Choir) with members that start their musical education at an early age. Groups like Coro Nacional, Coro del Conservatorio and  Coro de la Universidad de Puerto Rico are versed in traditional chorale works as well as modern compositions and world music.   These and other choirs are available for recording and performance. Singing is ingratiated in the culture of Puerto Rico.
